Jia Wan

I am a 2nd-year math PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, luckily working with my excellent advisor Autumn Kent. I received a B.S. in Mathematics from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China, in 2023 and an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2024.

My research interests focus on low-dimensional topology and geometric group theory. Specifically, my recent paper is related to quasi-Fuchsian surfaces in hyperbolic 3-manifolds and surface subgroups in mapping class groups.
